The Chuckle and Chortle Collection

I have been toying with an idea for a few weeks now. It’s loosely inspired by Fueled by Smiling ‘s Sparkling Smile Sunday where the best smiles of the week are collected.

Everyone loves to laugh, but I think even more so, everyone loves to share what made them laugh. We like passing on good jokes (or bad ones) and we like sharing funny stories. We also like telling people about things we watched that made us laugh.

So, without further ado, I introduce to you The Chuckle and Chortle Collection, where I share with you the anime moments that made me laugh the hardest (and if I find gems outside of anime, maybe I’ll share them too.)

This past week I just dealt the first exams of the semester, so I only watched a little anime this week. But I have a  few things to share that left me howling.

Cromartie high: The song that gets stuck in your head.

In the middle of a full day of studying (I had the day off from work, so I made the most of it) I decided I needed a break. Since I’m tired of all the commercials they have been playing on crunchy roll I turned to the first legal streaming site I viewed anime on and gave Cromartie High a whirl.

The show is hilarious, the animation choices odd and the characters are all crazy, but episode three really took the cake. In it a character gets a tune stick in his head and proceeds to hum it to others in order to find out what the song is. The episode culminated to this.

Luckily the song is named in the ending credits of the episode. I listened to it on repeat for the rest of the day.

I couldn’t find a clip, but the episode is only ten minutes long, so here you are!

If you want to see the best part only though, it’s from right around 5:30 to 8:00.

And here’s the actual song

City hunter, KFC colonel Umibozu

I have no words for this…

Well, I do, but it speaks for itself. What better way to hide in plain site then to dress as the colonel? I love city hunter, my only complaint is that there isn’t more Umibozu. The character’s only been featured in three episodes so far and I’ve watched at least thirty! He is gold! We also found out what his greatest fear is in this episode, which was equally hilarious.

Here is some more Umibozu awesomeness.

The video is in French and there are no subtitles, but the actions speak for themselves.

Fullmetal Alchemist Manga chapter 13: a twist on the nosebleed cliche.

If there is one thing I hate in anime it’s the nosebleed that almost every character gets whenever anything related to romantic relationships (or sometimes just lewd subjects in general) is mentioned. It’s stupid. Nose bleeds can be a serious thing. Half these people should be dead from blood loss, but I digress.

When in Fullmetal Alchemist a twist in this over used cliche was featured I was absolutely delighted. Edward is in the hospital and when it is ensued that Winry is his girlfriend his wound opens up!

How to keep a Mummy:bandage mask

Last, but not least. I have something to share from the current season. I

How do you keep a bandage wrapped mummy from getting sick? With a bandaid!

Alright everyone, that’s it! I’ll be compiling my list and publishing it every Sunday, at the beginning of the week. I hope you enjoy it!

Now, feel free to make the collection larger and share with me and others down below in the comments what made you laugh this week!

  1. What a fun segment. I love this idea Shaddow! Something that made me laugh this week…hmm, well when I was looking up information on Ghost Stories there was an article on MAL about bad but good animes and I saw this clip there.

It’s from Mad Bull 34 and it’s strange, but I couldn’t stop laughing. The absurdness over it and the tears from the big guy at the end just sold it for me.

      1. Once I finish up on some of the animes I’m currently watching, I’m definitely going to binge watch that show. Why would anyone do that to themselves? I don’t know.

  2. I have completely missed this post. It never showed on my reader. 🤔 As someone who suffers from regular nosebleeds (I have a low platelets count which makes the blood not cloth properly so worst case scenario, when the count drop dramatically, I have to call an ambulance and be rushed to the hospital. 😳 🙄) I actually find the nosebleed trope amusing. Well, in some cases. Not that kind of “let’s paint the whole world in blood” kind of way but the discrete blood trickling kind of way. But, it’s nothing I would laugh out loud at, it’s not that funny. Unless in like the example above, that was funny.

    1. I’m glad you found it now. I really loved that moment, it was just too funny. I don’t know If it happened in the anime or not. I think I’d have remembered, but I am not sure.
